How to sell what you know through the internet

small business accounting software

I make instructional videos like the one above for business owners and their teams who are using our system to replace small business accounting software such as Quickbooks (the one above took me about an hour). There is a lot of hype about information marketing and there are unscrupulous marketers all over the internet who will try and take your money in exchange for showing you methods that simply won’t work, here is a method that does. The optimum approach is to focus on creating and selling your own product as all of the income you make will be yours and not have to be shared with others.

I hope you are aware of iTunes, but I bet you didn’t appreciate it is probably as significant to the progress of the Internet as the web browser in as much as it is a powerful way of accessing, downloading and organising video content. I can deliver my small business accounting software through just about every modal via the internet and guess what the traffic just follows.

To do this properly you have to begin with the end in mind so you need to think carefully about what you are going to share with your target audience and for this you need to create what I call a storyboard. If you have ever given a presentation or a talk using slides made by microsoft powerpoint or apple keynote then you are off to a great start to storyboard your video. Before embarking on this exercise you should have in mind my motto, which is get a rope across the river and don’t spend any money doing it and the good news is that this is entirely possible as I will demonstrate in a moment.

I have been creating my videos in Podcast, YouTube and downloadable video format for over two years now using a really fantastic tool called Camtasia Studio which is developed by TechSmith a US company, whatever you do watch all of the tutorials before downloading the thirty day fully functional trial. I said don’t download Camtasia yet as soon as it is installed the thirty day clock starts ticking and you need as much time as possible to get familiar with it and produce and refine your first video.

OK you are beginning to get an appreciation of the tools you will need and the approach you should take to sell your knowledge online, what I have given you already will help you get prepared for the next lesson where I go into a lot of detail on how to create the storyboard which I will be releasing to this blog (owners permitting) in the next few days, so look out for part two and if you have any questions in the meantime please follow the small business accounting software links.
